Antagonistic Activity of Lactic Acid Bacteria Against Pathogenic Vibrios and Their Potential Use as Probiotics in Shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) Culture

چکیده
Probiotic use in aquaculture settings can be an approach for disease control and dietary supplementation. We assessed the antagonistic effect of culture supernatants lactic acid bacteria on growth known shrimp pathogens, Vibrio ( Listonella ) anguillarum , alginolyticus V. harveyi using a quantitative microplate bioassay. Supernatants from Lactobacillus curvatus subsp. curvatus, L. plantarum Pediococcus acidolactici significantly inhibited these vibrios. The active component(s) were heat stable (> 100°C) resistant to freeze-thawing. Most this inhibitory activity was brought about by production pH; however, there evidence other factors playing role. In search novel probiotic bacteria, organism isolated gastrointestinal tract healthy whiteleg Penaeus vannamei)— identified tentatively as Carnobacterium maltaromaticum . This isolate, had less potent vibriocidal than reduced survival at dose 1 × 10 7 bacteria/shrimp. During 28-day feeding trial, juvenile P. vannamei fed with supplemented diets showed no gross changes parameters compared control. suggest that could incorporated into biofloc formulations purge pathogenic vibrios pond settings, rather being directly shrimp.

Antimicrobial Effect of Lactic Acid Bacteria against Common Pathogenic Bacteria
Abstract Background and Objective: Probiotics are living microorganisms that have beneficial effects on the health of digestive system. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial ability of acidic and neutral supernatants (culture supernatant) of lactic acid bacteria against common bacterial pathogens. Meth...

A number of Lactobacillus species, Bifidobacterium sp, Saccharomyces boulardii, and some other microbes have been proposed as and are used as probiotic strains, i.e. live microorganisms as food supplement in order to benefit health. The health claims range from rather vague as regulation of bowel activity and increasing of well-being to more specific, such as exerting antagonistic effect on the...

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are commonly found on human and animal mucous membranes in dairy products and naturally on some plant surfaces. They are normal residents of the gastrointestinal tract of human beings. Several species are commercially used in production of fermented milks, yoghurt, other dairy and meat products, as well as other foods. The antimicrobial activities of LAB have been kno...
متن کاملIsolation and screening of antibacterial and enzyme producing marine actinobacteria to approach probiotics against some pathogenic vibrios in shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei
The application of new probiotics is a good strategy in the biological control of infectious diseases in aquaculture. Approximately 100 marine actinobacteria isolates were obtained from 10 sediment samples of shrimp farms. Heat treatment of sediment samples resulted in a selective reduction of the non actinobacterial heterotrophic microflora. Starch nitrate agar medium exhibited more efficacy t...
